12 – 13th June 2017, Deutsches Theater Berlin and ETC present:

NADIA by Daniël van Klaveren

Performances, workshops, panel discussions and table talks

What has searching for a meaningful life and gaining respect from society to do with radicalization in the European Islamic youth? What are the reasons for young people in Western societies to radicalize? What attracts them to join the Caliphate?

NADIA, the Dutch author’s play for young audience, questions the reasons for a young girl to leave for the Caliphate. Five theatres in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Norway and the Netherlands search for answers throughout their different staging of the play. From 12 – 13th June 2017, all five artistic teams gathered for a two-day symposium in Berlin to shed light on the topic of radicalisation of young people in Western Europe. Together with invited experts, youngsters, pedagogues, theatre professionals and local audience, questions of identity and belonging and the participation of culture and theatre, as a stimulating meeting place for reflection, orientation and argumentation, were discussed in panels, workshops and table talks.
